Elina Groberman

Elina Groberman was born in Kishinev, Moldova, on February 16th, 1983. At the age of six she started playing chess. Shortly thereafter the Groberman family immigrated to Israel and in August of 1995 they immigrated again, this time to the United States.

In New York Elina started training with Mikhail Trosman and found many tournament opportunities. In1997 she participated in the Girls Under 14/16 World Championships and in 1998 tied for first place in the Girls Under 18 Pan-American Championship in Brazil. Recently Elina has been teaching chess at several schools in New York. Away from chess, she enjoys reading as well as dancing.
