Grandmaster Tal Shaked

Shaked, born February 5, 1978, was the highest rated junior (Under 21) player in the United States several times. He was also the country's youngest Grandmaster for a time. Shaked makes his home in Tucson, Ariz. His chess career progressed rapidly in the latter part of 1997. He became the reigning FIDE World Junior Champion, completed his grandmaster title, and earned a spot in the FIDE World Championship all in the space of just a few months. He also qualified for the 1997/98 FIDE World Championship Tournament on the basis of his World Junior Championship.
