Grandmaster Susan Polgar
4-time Women�s World Champion and winner of 6 Olympic Medal
(3 Gold, 2 Silver, and 1 Bronze)

Women�s World Champion Susan Polgar was born on April 19, 1969. The eldest of the legendary Polgar sisters, she was considered a child prodigy at age 4. Susan is known to be the pioneer in women�s chess. She was the first woman ever to break the gender barrier by earning the ultimate Men�s Grandmaster title as well as the first woman ever to qualify for the Men�s World Championship Zonal Tournament.

Her illustrious career started with a 10-0 perfect score at the Budapest Girls Championship under 11 at the incredible age of 4! To date, Susan has won 4 Women�s World Championships and 6 Olympic medals (3 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze). Susan is the only World Champion to win the triple-crown in chess. She became the number one ranked woman player in the world at the age of 15 and remained among the top 3 in the world for 20 straight years. Susan is also a 3-time winner of the Chess Oscar and she was named 2003 Grandmaster of the Year. She accomplished another milestone recently by winning the 2003 US Open Blitz Championship. This was an open event for both men and women.

Besides being a top-ranked professional chess player, Susan is also a fame chess author and trainer. She has written some of the best selling chess books and wonderful articles that have been published worldwide in many different languages (Susan herself speaks 7 different languages). In August 2003, she won the Cramer Award for Best Chess Column, Chess Journalists of America Award for Best Magazine Column and Best Endgame Analysis Column.

She was the first trainer for both younger sisters Sophia Polgar and Judit Polgar, who are world class chess players themselves. Susan also runs her own chess center in Queens, NY and she has taught chess to thousands of students. She currently serves as the Chairperson of the US Women�s Chess Committee and President of the Susan Polgar Foundation. Some of her current projects include writing numerous chess books in addition to columns for Chess Life, Chess Horizons, School Mates, ChessCafe.com, Georgia Chess and Empire Chess, etc. She is a main voice for Women�s Chess and Scholastic Chess. With a Hall of Fame career, combined with magnificent grace and exceptional style, Susan is the role model for millions and a true chess ambassador for the world.
