Grandmaster Alex Yermolinsky

GM Alex Yermolinsky was born in the former USSR on April 11, 1958. After leaving the Soviet Union, Alex spent time in Italy, where he won almost every open tournament he played in. Shortly after arriving in the United States, he tied for first place in the 1990 National Chess Congress and was awarded FIDE's international master title later that year. In 1992, he played for the American team at the Chess Olympiad, where his performance on second board was good enough to earn him FIDE's grandmaster title. The California, resident is a chemist for a pharmaceutical company. His interests include music and sports.
