USCF FIDE TEAM NAMED TO TOP POSTS
Members of the U.S. delegation were named to top administrative posts during the recent FIDE Congress, held Oct. 2-12 in Elista, Kalmykia in conjunction with the World Chess Olympiad.
E. Steven Doyle has been re-elected as Vice-President of FIDE (one of seven such positions on the FIDE Presidential Board).
Doyle, 39, of Morris Township, N.J., was also chosen to serve as chair of the FIDE Events Committee, which oversees such prestigious events as the World Chess Championship, World Youth Festival, and other non-Olympiad activities such as the World Team Championship. He is also one of the country's most successful chess organizers.
William Kelleher has been named as chair of the FIDE Ethics Committee. Kelleher, 49, of Watertown, Mass., is the USCF's official delegate to the FIDE Congress. He is a Senior Master-level player and holds the title of FIDE Master.
