MATCH REGULATIONS

This information is provided as a public service by USChess Online ®

  1. The Match consists of 20 games.

  2. As soon as one of the players reaches a total score of 10.5 or 11 points, the match is over and he shall be announced as the World Champion.

  3. Time Control: 40/2 (40 moves in 2 hours), followed by 16/1 (16 moves in 1 hours). Adjournments are permitted after completing the second time control.

  4. Games start at 4PM Elista time (GMT+4; 8AM New York time). Adjourned games will resume at 2PM (6AM New York time) on following day.

  5. Missing a game is not permitted. The absence of either participant is considered as a loss.

  6. The whole match will take place in the Elista House of Children Creation.

  7. The Main Match Referee is Guert Gijssen of the Netherlands.

  8. Participants may appeal disputed rulings to the Appeal Committee. The Committee shall be governed by FIDE Regulations.

  9. The total prize money is US$2 million.
