Annotation by GM Arthur Bisguier, assisted by SM Ron Burnett
Special Post-Game Analysis by GM Gabriel Schwartzmann
3. d2-d4 Full Game Score ... Previous Move ... Next Move |
This is one of White's strongest replies to the Petroff. In a previous game between these two (Linares, 1994 [which was drawn in 67 moves]) the game continued with 3. Nxe5 d6 4. Nf3 Nxe4 5. d4 d5 6. Bd3 Be7 7. 0-0 Nc6 8. Re1 Bg4 which is another common way of playing. White could avoid the Petroff by playing 3. Nc3 which may lead to either the Three or Four Knights Game. |
