Virtually forced. The alternative 16. ...Nf6 17. Qxe7 Rxe7 18. dxc5 bxc5 clearly favors White, who enjoys the advantage of the Queenside majority. Also, Black's Queenside pawns are isolated and therefore weak. (0:18)
