Grandmaster Bisguier's Commentary

This appears to be Gata's "improvement" over the Rogers-Ivanchuk.

White repositions his bishop to a new diagonal, and pressures the d5-square. On a deeper level, White restrains Black from playing his freeing move e6-e5 because of the pressure on f7 from the combination of the Bb3 and Ng5.

Black has a major problem here: what to do with his Bc8? If he plays b7-b6 to play Bb7, he runs the risk of a possible sacrifice on the weakened e6 or f7-squares. (:15)
