Karpov Resigns

Full Game Score ... Previous Move

Grandmaster Bisguier's Commentary

Gata wins!

The threat of 50. Ne7+ wins the house.

Final Thoughts:

Not a pretty game.

Of course, any win is good news for Kamsky...the match continues.

But how depressing for Karpov...he puts up heroic resistance after being snookered in the opening, only to "fall asleep" when the moment of salvation was near (46. ... Qb1? versus 46. ... Bxf2!).

Karpov still has a big lead (three points), but maybe the physical strain of play is catching up to him? Still, I'd rather be sitting in his chair the rest of the way! (2:16)
