Grandmaster Bisguier's Commentary

Black finally stakes a claim in the center, but still retains the greatest flexibility by holding back his center pawns.

Now any immediate action such as 6. cxb5 axb5 7. Ne5?! allows Black to secure good chances with 7. ... d5! Gata seems to be almost teasing his opponent with these provocative moves...

The position appears to be slightly more active for Black than the usual symmetrical English position (1. c4 c5). (Black's time used 0:09)
