Here is the difference! Black returns his bishop to the a8-h1 diagonal.

In Game Sixteen (which Black lost), Karpov chose 10. Nfd7 here (actually the sequence was 9. ... Nfd7 10. Nxd7 Nxd7 11. 0-0 0-0, but the difference is only cosmetic).

The champion clearly intends to take the game on a different course today! (Black's time used 0:09)
