Scholastic Chess: My Coach is the Best
My Coach is the Best Because.... Kids, do you think that your chess coach is the best? The USCF believes that all coaches are the best. They are mostly volunteers who love the game or teachers and parents who can see the educational benefits of learning this game. We would like to recognize every coach individually. That's just what our Coach's Spotlight will do.

Write a 150 word essay that tells us what your coach does for your club and why your coach has made the club the best. If you have any pictures of your coach or your club that would be great. Then the U S Chess Federation will recognize these wonderful people on our website.

Andrei V. Cherepanov and Jim Mundy

My chess coaches Andrei V. Cherepanov and Jim Mundy are both outstanding coaches. They teach me to the best of their abilities.

Andrei is an extraordinary chess player and sees everything on the board extremely fast. He teaches me about all parts of the game, the opening, middle game, and the endgame.

Jim too is an unbelievable player. He does anything he can to promote chess, which makes him so generous and great. He always holds tournaments at all of his chess clubs. Next School year, he will be teaching at over 5 schools a week! He will always try to have a tournament, and when he does, he encourages anyone to play. Jim and Andrei both make learning chess fun.

For the reasons above, I believe Jim Mundy and Andrei Cherepanov are the greatest chess coaches in the world!
