To: The Board of Governors Marshall Chess Club May 23, 2012 Colleagues: I am a bit saddened and I highly regret to have to inform you that I must step down as president of the Marshall Chess Club, and also as a member of the Board of Governors. As my literary career continues to develop, I am about to sign a long-term contract for a new book (not about chess!) that must be completed by December 2014. Additionally, I am continuing my role as a fulltime faculty member of St. John's University. I would like to say that my cup runneth over, but it is more accurate to say simply that my plate has just become too fulleth. Hence, I must give up my activity at the Club. ![]() All of these events have helped us to grow as a Club. We have doubled our membership in just the past two or three years to approximately 500 members. None of this could have been accomplished without the cooperation and encouragement of the Board, the enthusiastic participation of the members, and without one of the strongest management staffs --directed by Dr. Marcus Fenner -- we have had in memory. I thank all of you for what you have done. I will remain in my post as president through the New York International (June 20-24), where I will serve as its International Arbiter, and I will officially step down at the conclusion of the Annual Meeting on June 26th. Please accept my thanks for the opportunity of working with you these past years, and I hope that we may continue our friendship on and off the board...and Board. Yours for chess, Dr. Frank Brady, President Marshall Chess Club Find out more about Dr. Frank Brady in Al Lawrence's February 2011 story and a US Chess Scoop interview with him. |
