Best of CLO 2014 #7- GM Krush on Orlando Print E-mail
January 29, 2015
IrinaKrushslide.jpgThe #7 article in Best of CLO 2014 is Krush on Orlando: What it Takes to Be a Champion by GM Irina Krush. Judges praised GM Krush’s insightful view on star youth at our K-12 Scholastic championships.

Michael “f-pawn” Aigner sums up what struck him about this article:

At first, she relates an online event featuring World Champion Magnus Carlsen. Then the spotlight shifts to grades 1-3. The most valuable sentences of this article are tidbits of youth chess advice buried deep within the prose. For example: "disappointment is a great impetus to improvement" and the unending benefits of patience and focus. The educational lessons contained within this interesting and well-written story raise it above the competition.”

GM Irina Krush is a six-time Us Women’s Chess Champion, and the reigning champion. A frequent contributor to Chess Life Magazine and CLO, Irina won Best of CLO last year for her piece on earning her final GM Norm in Baku. In 2014, Irina also wrote a piece on Gibraltar (where she is now playing in the 2015 edition) and her visit to the Dayton Chess Club.
