Bughouse Winning Team NM Scott Low - FM Shinaku Uesugi 10-0 K-12 Blitz Individual Winners 1st Place - Nicholas Ryba, Stuyvesant HS (New York), 11/12 2nd Place - James Canty III, Mumford HS (Michigan), 11/12 3rd Place - Michael Bowersock, Chippewa Valley HS (Michigan), 11/12 K-12 Blitz Winning Teams 1st Place - Stuyvesant HS 2nd Place - Thomas Jefferson HS 3rd Place - IS 318k See the bughouse and look for the blitz standings on the Results & Pairings page. On Friday the tournament's first round starts at 1pm. According to the advance registration list the tournament will have over 1300 players in attendance. With the number of strong players in the K-12 Championship section, the first day promises some exciting games. Friday afternoon also marks the start of the All-Girls Nationals Tournament, which is being held at the same time. Approximately 200 girls are participating in the event. On Thursday, April 15, The 2010 High school
Nationals kicked off with the Bughouse and Blitz tournaments.
71 teams participated in the bughouse tournament. NM Scott Low
and FM Shinsaku Uesugi took clear first with a perfect 10-0 score.
Later in the day 270 players took part in the K-12 Blitz tournament.
There was a three way tie for first between Nicholas Ryba, James Canty
III, and Michael Bowersock with 11/12. Ryba took the first place
trophy on tiebreaks. Ryba's performance helped his team, Stuyvesant
HS, take top team honors.
