Daniel Naroditsky Earns Second IM Norm |
December 30, 2010 | |
Young author Daniel Naroditsky earned his second IM norm at the
Groningen Open (December 21-30, Holland). Daniel told CLO, "I'm happy to finally achieve my second norm and to
have the title within sight. I'll try my best to repeat the performance
at the Berkeley International, which begins very soon!" See his complete tournament history here and check out a few games below: 5208 Daniel's win below has been revised on 1/1/11-- the previous score had some nonsensical moves toward the end. 5209 5204 Matthew Herman of New York also played in Groningen but narrowly missed a norm with a 2429 tournament performance rating. Matt has been on a roll lately, earning two IM norms and 248 (!) FIDE rating points , even moving his friend GM Hikaru Nakamura to tweet, "So impressed by my hero Matt Herman! Perhaps I can go pick up 250+ Fide points sometime!.." 2010 was also an exciting year for Daniel. In addition to publishing his first book, Mastering Positional Chess, he is also qualified for the 2011 US Chess Championship at the Chess Club and Scholastic Center of Saint Louis via the US Open.
