IM Farai Mandizha and WIM Alisa Melekhina shared top honors at the Delaware Valley Championship in Philadelphia (formerly called the
Philadelphia Open until the huge Grand Prix tournament formerly known as Foxwoods moved to Philly and adopted
the name.) Farai and Alisa each received $300 for their efforts. See the full crosstable on MSA. Alisa told CLO, "After suffering a devastating first round upset (to Jessica Regam), I managed to rebound with 4 consecutive wins, including one over the top seed, Farai Mandizha." 5174 "At the last round, he was leading the tournament with a perfect score and by a full point, and so I was placed in a must-win situation. I declined both of his draw offers, and succeeded in tactically exploiting my extra pawn advantage." |
