Much like Mandrake the Magician, Astronaut Greg Chamitoff has wiggled
and squirmed and found a way to free his f1 rook from almost certain
entombment. And now it is up to the Stevenson Elementary School Chess Club to provide Earthlings with guidance in this tricky position. After due deliberation, they will provide Earthlings with up to four choices for Black's 14th response. (Update: As of Wednesday night, the Stevenson Team is still deliberating; please check back periodically.) Greg Chamitoff vs. Earth (after 14.Qc3) While we await the next voting period, you may enjoy checking out the following: Part-time Florida resident Grandmaster Alexandra Kosteniuk - recently crowned Women's World Champion while playing for her native Russia - has provided uschess.org with a nice story about the historic significance of this Earth vs. Space match . USCF Correspondence Chess Director Alex Dunne has been providing commentary on recent moves, which you can see when you replay the game in our Chess Viewer. By the way, this isn't the only game Greg has in progress.
