IrinaKrushslide.jpgGM Irina Krush, the highest rated U.S. active female player will be a special guest at the 2015 National Elementary Chess Championships.  She is a six-time U.S. Women’s Champion and in 1998, at age 14, became the youngest ever to win that title!

Just as she did at the National K-12 Grade Championships in December, Irina will do a 30-board simul on Friday morning, at 9 AM, before the main event kicks off.  Later that day, starting at 3:00 PM, she will be available for a “take-on-all-comers” Blitz where players can sit down and play 5-minute games with her.  On Saturday at afternoon, Irina will give a lecture which will be followed by a group Questions-and-Answers (Q&A) session.

Irina is currently participating in the Masters Division of the Tradewise Gibraltar Chess Festival.  The incredibly strong field includes 73 Grandmasters.

The National Elementary (K-6) Chess Championship will take place at the spacious facilities of the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee, May 8-10. The day before the main event begins, on Thursday May 7, the Blitz and Bughouse Championships will take place.  For information and registration, please visit http://www.uschess.org/tournaments/2015/elem/.

Before the National Elementary takes place, the other two National Scholastic Spring National Championships will be held.  First, it will be the National High School Championship at the beautiful Hyatt Regency in Columbus, Ohio, April 10-12.  See http://www.uschess.org/tournaments/2015/hs/ for more details and registration.

Two weeks later, April 24-26, at the luxurious Galt House in Louisville, Kentucky, the National Junior High Championship will take place.  Please see http://www.uschess.org/tournaments/2015/jhs/.  As previously announced, GM Timur Gareyev will be the special guest at that event.

Keep checking CLO for more announcements about the Spring Nationals and be sure the sign up early!
