Kamsky Back on Top in Rapids |
March 21, 2009 | |
Our #1 rated American GM, Gata Kamsky is now the sole leader in the rapids at the Amber Chess Tournament (March 14-26, Nice, France)! In round seven, he traded wins with Radjabov, but his win was in the rapids and his loss was in the blindfold. This combined with the loss to Kramnik from the tournament leader at the start of the round, Aronian put Gata back on top in the rapids, with plus three. Kramnik and Anand head the combined scoretable with nine points each. In the combined event, Kamsky is in the middle of the pack with seven points--unfortunately, Kamsky's blindfold score is the opposite of his rapid score: minus three. 2971 2972 Tomorrow Kamsky faces Karjakin starting at 9 AM EST. Check the full schedule and results on the official website. Also see the ICC blog, an index of videos and ChessVibes for more stories and games from the site. Standings after 7 rounds Blindfold 1.
