Michael Glinski Jr. (1959-2010)
Michael Glinski Jr., an ex-USCF member from Hudson, New Hampshire, formerly of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, died April 10, 2010 in Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua. He was 51. He was born March 26, 1959 in Leominster, Mass., the son of Michael Glinski Sr. and Furinda C. (Montaquila) Glinski, and had lived there and later in Fitchburg before moving to Hudson three years ago. He graduated from Leominster High School in 1977. He then served four years in the U.S. Army as a computer technician. Mr. Glinski worked many years for the former NEC Computer Systems in Boxborough, Mass. as vice president of operations. He was later president and chief operating officer for Vibren Technologies Inc., also in Boxborough. While living in Fitchburg he was a member of the Wachusett Chess Club in the 1980s and early 1990s, competing in the club's "A" division championship finals in 1992 and 1993. He held a Class A quick rating and correspondence rating. In 1990, he became editor of the Massachusetts Chess Association's bimonthy magazine "Chess Horizons" and produced six issues, several of which received awards from the Chess Journalists of America. He is survived by his longtime partner, Carol A. Winters of Hudson, N.H.; a daughter, Jessica Glinski of Lunenburg, Mass.; and a brother, John Glinski. His funeral was held April 15 in the Silas F.
