Ruben M Shocron (1921-2013)

I regret to inform you the Rubin Shocron (AKA Ruben M Shocron) passed away on March 8, 2013 in Lima PA after a short illness.

I am his son in-law and he lived with me and his daughter, Eleanor, most recently in Kennett Square PA

Rubin had just recently celebrated his 92nd birthday and his 60th wedding anniversary with his wife, Elsa.

I am not familiar with all of his chess activities but I know the following…
Rubin is most remembered for his game with Bobby Fischer back in 1959, which is chronicled (#6) in Fischer’s book, My 60 Memorable Games.
He won state championships during various years in Georgia, New Mexico and Pennsylvania.
He remained active, playing chess online during his last years when tournament play was not practical.
