Woodley L. Chapman Jr. (1959-2002)
Woodley L. Chapman Jr. of Concord, Massachusetts died October 27, 2002 at home. He was 43. Born October 2, 1959 in New York City, Mr. Chapman grew up in Cambridge, Mass. and graduated from the Cambridge Pilot School. He was a member of the Harvard College class of 1983. For many years, he worked as a Realtor at various real-estate offices in the Cambridge and Boston area. While a student at Harvard, Mr. Chapman was active in the college's chess club and achieved a rating of expert. During the early 2000s, he was active in the Billerica (Mass.) Chess Club. His last USCF-rated game was played nine days before he died. He leaves three daughters, Catherine, Elena and Patricia, and his former wife, Marie Chapman, all of Concord; a stepsister, Pamela Sinos of Watertown, Mass.; and two stepbrothers, William Hogan of Montclair, New Jersey, and Gregory Hogan of Dorchester, Mass. Burial was in St. Bernard's Cemetery in Concord. Mr. Chapman is one of many on the Massachusetts Chess Association's "Living Memorial Chess Fund" list of honored persons.
