2007 U.S. Class Chess Championship Travels To Houston, Texas |

(Crossville, TN) The U. S. Chess Federation (USCF) will hold its 26th U.S. Class Championships in Houston, Texas under the direction of USCF affiliate Cajun Chess. The five-round national championship begins October 19, 2007 and concludes on October 21. This prestigious event is open to all USCF members regardless of age. Players will compete in a Swiss-style format for a $10,000 prize fund (70% guaranteed based on 200 paid entries with a $7,000 minimum guaranteed.) The event offers both 2-day and 3-day schedules. There is a seperate side event for scholastic players on Saturday, October 20, during which our younger players will be competing for trophies, medals and prizes! Players from Texas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Oregon, California, Missouri, Arizona, District of Columbia and Canada have signed up so far. Entry fees are: $89 at site for Upper Sections; $59 at site for Class E, Unrated players, & Juniors (Under 18 yrs. old) playing in Class C, D or E. Entry fee for Scholastic sections is $25 at site.
