(Crossville, TN) The U. S. Chess Federation’s, (USCF) 2007 U.S. Class Championships concluded. The event was held at the Doubletree in Houston, Texas under the direction of USCF Chess Affiliate Cajun Chess (Jean Troendle) and Chief Tournament Director Franc Guadalupe.


260 chess enthusiasts came from all across the United States to compete in this five-round national championship event. The event began October 19 and concluded October 21 with the following division winners: 

Master Division

Champion – GM Alejandro Ramirez, Texas, 2590, 4.5, $705 + Plaque + Title

2nd – Warren Harper, Texas, 2301, 4.0, $352.50
T 3rd – IM Daniel Fernandez, Texas, 2468, 3.0, $105.75
T 3rd – Shaun Noland, Texas, 2087, 3.0, $105.75
 


Expert Division

Champion – Artur K. Safin, Texas, 1973, 4.5, $564 + Plaque
T 2nd-3rd – Adam Caveney, Louisiana, 2104, 3.5, $211.50
