(Crossville, TN) The 47th Annual U.S. Armed Forces Open (USAFO) Chess Championship will be held on October 7-9, 2006 at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington, DC, the premier retirement community for America’s veterans!
The event is a 6 round, U.S. Chess Federation (USCF) rated event. The event will end on Columbus Day with an awards ceremony. Trophies, medals, and other awards will be available for the winners. There is no entry fee for this event but each participant must be a current USCF member.
This is a historic event which dates back to 1960! The event is open to Active Duty, Retired, Reserve, National Guard, and U.S. Military Academy Cadets.
A five minute speed chess tournament will also take place on Sunday evening. Come and make history happen.
