(Crossville, TN) GM Nakamura won the U.S. Chess Federation's 2007 National Open Chess Championship held June 7-11, 2007 at the Riviera Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nakamura's final score was 5.5 which gave him $5,916.00 and the historical Edmondson Cup trophy.

689 chess enthusiasts traveled to Las Vegas to participate in the 2007 National Open which offered a prize fund of $100,000.00 based on 900 entries. World renown Grandmaster Viktor Kortchnoi played in the event and along with GM Walter Browne gave simultaneous exhibitions on Monday, July 12.

GM Nakamura won the 2007 National Open Blitz Championship with a final score of 12.5. GM Jaan Ehlvest won the 2007 National Open Game 10 Championship with a final score of 5.5.

Organizers Fred Gruenberg, Alan Losoff not only dedicate their love of chess to adult players but they work hard to attract our younger chess enthusiasts to this annual event. The Trophy Tournament was won by Sayaka B. Foley of Arizona with a final score of 4.5. This Scholastic event drew 66 players!

GM Susan Polgar held two side tournaments, one for Girls and one for Boys. GM Polgar offers many sections in an effort to accommodate players from all rating levels. Rebecca Lelko won the Girls Open section with a final score of 4.5. Calvin Nguyen, Sam Seiniger, Caleb Kircher and David Foshee tied with 4.0 scores in the Boys.
