The 2010 NJ Futurity International, scheduled for the Dean of Chess
Academy from July 6-10 will start with an open qualifier, which
is scheduled for June 4-6.

IM Levon Altounian (Arizona) beat Damir Studen (Georgia), 1.5-0.5, to win the 2010 US State Champion of Champions title hosted on the Interent Chess Club. This gives IM Altounian a ticket into the US Championship!
USCF
is pleased to announce that former World Champion Anatoly Karpov,
candidate for the office of FIDE President, has offered a spot on his
ticket to the prominent international attorney Richard A. Conn, Jr.
The USCF Executive Board unanimously voted that the USCF will support GM Anatoly
Karpov in the upcoming FIDE election for President, to be held in October 2010.
$12,000 is up for capture in the 1st Annual Rentschler Foundation High
School Chess Championship to be held at the Holiday Inn in Cherry Hill,
NJ on June 12 – 13.
Over 150 young chess players competed in the Greater Chicago Scholastic Chess Champs (Feb 27-28). Renaissance Knights Chess Foundation
and the Kasparov Chess Foundation sponsored the event.
200 young players came out for the 2010 US Junior Chess Congress, held in Indianapolis, Indiana. Josh Matti turned in an undefeated score in the 12th grade & Under section. Check out the press release for more details.

Kasparov Chess Foundation today announced its 2010 Scholastic
Championships Series, spanning two-thirds of the nation. Foundation
Chairman and legendary World Champion Garry Kasparov will be signing
his latest books at the New York tournament and giving encouragement
to all players.
The dates for the 2010 U.S. Championship have shifted to May 13-25. The 2010 Champs, set for the Chess Club an Scholastic Center of St.Louis will have a larger prize fund than 2009, with over $170,000 up for grabs.
The 2010 All-Girls Nationals, sponsored by the Kasparov Chess Foundation will be held in Columbus, Ohio from April 16-18. The University of Texas at Dallas will offer a $68,000 scholarship. Last year's champ Megan Lee was on the cover of CL4k!
From April 22-25 GMs Akobian and Shulman will face off in a four-day rapid match for a prize fund is $10,000. The event will be hosted at the Robinson Rancheria resort and casino.
