Official Press Release July 15, 2009 Contact: Joan DuBois [email protected] (Crossville, TN) On June 13, 2009 in Joliet, Illinois 47 chess enthusiasts gathered from all across the United States to battle for the title of USCF's (U.S. Chess Federation) 2009 Game/15 National Chess Champion...the victor was Alexsandar Stamnov (2192) after a tiebreak between Stamnov, David Long, Gopal Menon and Mark Robledo, Jr. who all finished with 5.0 scores. The event was a six round swiss format - all six rounds were played on June 13. Each player had 15 minutes on their clocks. Time controls below 30 minutes per player are recognized as Quick Chess. Joliet Junior College was the playing site for this national event and U.S. Chess National Tournament Director Glenn Panner directed the tournament. The organizer was Dennis Doyle and the Joliet Junior College Chess Club.
