The University of Texas at Brownsville (USA) and The University of Warsaw (Poland) will contest a match on the Internet Chess Club on April 12, 2014 at 10 CST. The UTB chess team has been trained since December 2012 by grandmaster Bartek Macieja - former European Champion. The University of Warsaw, established in 1816, is the largest university in Poland. The UW chess team won the national collegiate championship in January 2014. TEAMS: UTB: 1. Anton Kovalyov 2636 (pictured) 2. Holden Hernandez 2530 3. Max Cornejo 2381 4. Katerina Nemcova 2282 5. Lukasz Kowalski 2040 SYSTEM OF COMPETITION: There will be 6 rounds. Every player from UW will play against all 6 players from UTB. Every player from UTB will play against all 6 players from UW. Players from the same university will not play against each other. TIME CONTROL: Each player will have 10 minutes for a game with an additional 5 seconds increment per move. |
