V. Hardy Scheuerman (1929-2008)

V. HARDY SCHEUERMAN, 79, died suddenly at home on Monday August 11, 2008. He had been president of the chess club at Fraim Senior Center in Wilmington, DE, since 1999. During that period, he organized and directed the annual Delaware Senior Chess Tourney as well as various club events.

After graduating from the University of Kansas in 1950, he went on to Stanford for a Master's degree in Chemistry (1952). During nearly 40 years at DuPont as a chemist/textile engineer, he traveled extensively, both here and abroad. In addition to his chess activity, he was a volunteer driver for Red Cross and regularly visited the shut-ins and elderly.

In addition to Beth, his wife of 58 years, he leaves a daughter Elizabeth, a son Scott and two brothers.
