This variation of the Gruenfeld: Black plays to pressure the White center forcing advance one of the center pawns. Black achieves this by playing ... Bg4xf3, followed by ... Nd7-b6 or ... e7-e5 (depending on the way White recaptures the bishop). White usually recaptures with gxf3 and plays for a kingside attack with h2-h4-h5.
