White has plenty of choices here, but the text is the safest.

If 10. Bxb5 Nxe4 11. Nxe4 Qa5+ wins the piece back with complications.

The first player could simply ignore his opponent and play 10. 0-0, but Black would then have his thematic play after 10. ... b4.
