On April 30, 2010, the two local New York state champions, Candidate Master (CM) Deepak Aaron, High School State Champion, and Patrick Chi, Elementary State Champion, held simuls at Proctors Theatre in downtown Schenectady. The event was sponsored by Proctors, City Mission and Third Way. Canned good donations were received onsite for the City Mission - Homeless Shelter. Patrick played against eight scholastic players and two adults. Deepak’s opponents were equally divided between adults and children. Both Aaron and Chi played the simul very professionally, walking around in a circle to the boards, silently making their move, then moving on to the next game. In fact, Chi was the only one who spoke to show people that their king was in check or to offer a draw. The two significant games for the champions, my draw with Chi and the last man standing with Aaron, are included: 4397 4398 See a US Chess Scoop video with Deepak Aaron here. |
