More Action Than Ever in Irvine & Miami |
November 5, 2011 | |
Just three weeks after the National K-12 Championships in Dallas, this year's final National Scholastic Championship will go down – The National Youth Action. For the first time ever, this event has been divided into two regions: The NYA – East will take place at the
DoubleTree Miami Mart Airport Hotel & Exhibition Center in Miami, Florida (left) while the NYA – West will be held at the Hyatt
Regency in Irvine, California (below). For those young players who like plenty of chess action, these are the events for you! Both events will have exactly the same format, nine games at G/30 and will take place during the same weekend, December 9-11. In addition to the main event, there will be Blitz and Bughouse tournaments as well as GM simuls and a puzzle solving contest. Each of these two events will award over 250 big trophies as well as National titles. Although all players who finish in a tie for first place in each section of the main event are declared National Champions, the top individual finishers on tie-breaks, one in each division, will have an Internet play-off game against the division winners of the other NYA event! The organizers will coordinate the actual date of the NYA-East vs. NYA-West with the winners of the four divisions. Make plans to attend one of these events. The cut-off for reduced entry fee (November 10) is just a few days away, so sign up today!
