After five rounds of the Candidates tournament in Khanty-Mansiysk, Viswanathan Anand leads with 3.5/5. He started off with a Ruy Lopez win over the top rated contender, Levon Aronian.

Close behind are GMs Peter Svidler, Levon Aronian and Vladimir Kramnik with 3/5 each. This double round robin event determines Magnus Carlsen's next challenger, in a World Championship match later this year.
Svidler lost in round 4 to Aronian but rebounded today with a victory over Topalov.
