Kramnik missed an unbelievably simple mate in one today to lose the second game against Deep Fritz, giving the computer a 1.5-.5 lead. Backward knight moves are known to be difficult to see, but it is a shock to see a World Champion miss a one-mover of this kind. Gata Kamsky, watching on the Internet Chess Club, called the incident "unbelievable." Instead of Qe3???, Black can play Kg8 when Black is doing fine. Can Kramnik get over such a demoralizing loss and come back with the White pieces? The next game is scheduled for Wednesday, November 29, 9 AM EST. |
