Hikaru Nakamura created plenty of fireworks on the first two days of
an elite round robin event in Barcelona. In the first round, he walked
his king from g1 to h7 in the middlegame. In round two against Mikhail Krasenkow of Poland, Hikaru made, in his own words, an "epic queen sacrifice" on f2. The tournament (October 18-26) is being held at the Barcelona Casino. The website is in Barcelona's main language, Catalan but you can also watch the games live on ICC. Also check Chess Life Online for more updates as the event progresses. Here are Hikaru's first two games: 1234 1235 The highest rated player in the event Lenier-Perez Dominguez of Cuba (2683) is keeping pace so far with Nakamura, also with 2-0.
