The final round of the Tal Memorial (Moscow, August
18-27), where Vassily Ivanchuk came out on top, featured
five draws, although not all were short. American World Championship
Gata Kamsky fought for 74 moves to earn a draw against Ruslan Ponomariov in a tough endgame. Kamsky finished with 4/9.
