Lenderman and Robson Climbing at the World Junior |
October 29, 2009 | |
After lackluster starts at the World Junior (Puerto Madryn, Argentina, Oct. 22-Nov.4) GM-elects Alex Lenderman and Ray Robson are climbing back up the standings, with round seven wins. Lenderman has 5/7 while Robson has 4.5/7. Today in round eight, they will both face strong Chinese representatives. Lenderman plays against GM Chao Li (2617) while Ray plays the 2500+ rated Yangyi Yu (listed as untitled on chessresults.com and this report since he received the GM title before the event began/now updated as a GM.) Update: Lenderman ties for third, fifth in tiebreak! Robson ends in 18th. Top-seed Maxime Lagrave-Vachier wins gold. See complete final standings here. The official live games and pairings site has been reported as attacked but you can safely peruse standings. Highlighted games coming soon to CLO. |
