Anna Zatonskih and Irina Krush advanced to round two of the Women's
World Championship in Khanty-Mansiysk. Zatonskih made it through with a 1.5-0.5 win in the two-game classical match. Irina's match against Ruofan Li was tied in classical and Irina advanced in the blitz rounds. Correction: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that Irina won in Armageddon playoff.
Tatev Abrahamyan was eliminated by Miami resident and former Women's World Champion Alexandra Kosteniuk.
