In the first round of the World Cup (November 22-December 18, Siberia) , the American team
scored only 3 out of 9. However, Americans were paired up by more than 75 points in three games (Ivanov, Kudrin and Becerra) and paired down significantly only in two (Onischuk and Kamsky.) The tournament is structured as a knockout with
two game mini-matches, so tomorrow's play (and tiebreaks on 11/26 in the event of a 1-1 tie) will determine who breaks
through to the next match.
