The Metropolitan FIDE Invitational held insidethe Metropolitan Chess Club in downtownLos Angeles is at the halfway point. The tournament is being sponsored by www.chess.com, LawyerFy, Fashion Business, Inc,and HippieChips.

After five rounds a clear leader has emerged in IMZhanibek Amanov who has a score of 4 ½ - ½ with a performance of 2691 FIDE.Amanov got his International Master title in 2008 and his most recentachievement was 2nd place at 2009 Asian Junior Championship in Sri Lanka.

Tied for second are IM Enrico Sevillano and SM RomanYankovsky each with 3 ½ - 1 ½. Yankovsky is leading the group out of the normcontenders. The complete standings are below:
