For the third consecutive year, the US Masters will take place over Labor Day weekend in Greensboro, NC. This year's field includes 18 GM's and a total of 44 internationally titled players. With 24 pre-registered players who play for foreign countries, the tournament will be a “super-swiss” enabling aspiring strong players to come and play for title norms.

Heading the field is current World Open champion Illya Nyzhnyk, who is one of 7 players tipping the scales at 2600+. Other notables include the American GM's Lenderman, Shabalov and Troff, as well as the young stars Awonder Liang and Razvam Preotu.

This event, which is coupled with the North Carolina Open, has become one of the best chess weekends in the USA, with over 400 players expected to compete for a total of $30,000 in unconditionally guaranteed cash prizes.

Tournament information and live coverage will be available at http://www.carolinaschessinitiative.com

Other major events on the weekend of "Labor Day Madness" include the Southern California Open and the New York State Championship.
