After a dismal 0-2 start in his Valencia, Spain match against Garry Kasparov, Anatoly Karpov
fought back against the Grunfeld to score a round three victory. In the endgame, Kasparov's two pieces proved no match for Karpov's rook and passed pawn. According to Mig Greengard's blog, Kasparov called his rival's win the best game of the match. 3512 Karpov lost the final game (he flagged in a tough position) to give Kasparov the 3-1 match win. 3511 Catch the third day, the blitz games (cross your fingers that the live relay will go smoothly- with blitz it can be tricky.) on Sept.24 at 1 PM EST, on the Internet Chess Club or the official website. |
