Nakamura Beats Shirov in Corus! |
January 23, 2010 | |
GM Hikaru Nakamura was the first to put a stop to Shirov's blazing
tournament in Corus, Wijk Aan Zee. Our US Champ scored a nice win on the white side of the Sveshnikov. 4089 Carlsen kept pace with a win over Ivanchuk. 4090 Now Nakamura and Carlsen are both just a half a point behind Shirov. Tomorrow, Nakamura has a big game against GM Vladimir Kramnik while the two leaders, Shirov and Carlsen face off. In the "C" section, GM Ray Robson who was on an incredible 5.5/6 score, finally slowed down with a loss to GM Vocaturo. 4091 ICC/chess.fm provided CLO with the following Nakamura clip after his round six Ivanchuk draw. Follow the action on the official website, the Internet Chess Club (Games begin at 7:30 AM EST), chessdom, chessbase, chessvibes and look for reportage from GM Ian Rogers on CLO.
