Nakamura Falls to Karjakin; Kramnik Defeats Carlsen |
January 26, 2010 | |
US Champion Hikaru Nakamura's misfortunes increased today at Corus Chess, as he lost his second game in a row (and his second loss of the event) to Sergey Karjakin. Meanwhile Vladimir Kramnik won against Magnus Carlsen and is currently tied for the lead with Shirov. 4100 4099 Unfortunately, this was also a tough day for the US in the "C" section, as GM Ray Robson lost to top-seed GM Li Chao. With this, Robson also lost the lead he'd been nursing most of the event, but he's still only a half point behind. 4101 American woes continued in the "B" section, as World Team silver-medallist Varuzhan Akobian lost to Ni Hua. 4102 Hopefully, luck will turn for our Americans in the last four rounds of the event. Root them on! Follow the action on the official website, the Internet Chess Club (Games begin at 7:30 AM EST), chessdom, chessbase, chessvibes and look for reportage from GM Ian Rogers on CLO before the next free day, on Thursday the 28th. |
