Results of Day 3

Absolute Championship

The players have been divided into 2 groups of 8. Each group will play a round robin of 7 games. The top two scorers from each group will advance to the SemiFinals. This day saw the third game of the Preliminaries.

In Group A, Christiansen drew with Shabalov. Gulko drew with Yermolinsky. Kudrin defeated Fedorowicz. (See the Commentary Section for the archive of the Christiansen - Shabalov game.)

In Group B, Benjamin defeated Finegold with the black pieces, while Kaidanov defeated Serper with the White. de Firmian and Seirawan drew. Gurevich and Shliperman also drew, giving the Junior Champion his third draw of the event, an excellent result considering the disparity in ratings with the rest of the field. (See the Commentary Section for the archive of the Finegold - Benjamin game.)

Women's Championship: The two leaders let the pack catch up as Epstein defeated Marinello and Frenklakh defeated Sagalchik. Khan lost to Belakovskaia on time, moving Belakovskaia into first position. Airapetian drew with Groberman. Shahade had another good round as she defeated Burton.
